Let me be clear, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and way to express their artform. It is subjective, and I am not here to be on a soapbox pretending I know everything.
But to every artform there is technique. Ballet dancers spend years training for their art, and they are constantly being corrected.
It does not mean that they are bad or the the work is bad, it just means that there is an improvement that can be made.
And while I may be qualified to have an opinion, am I necessary qualified to speak so much about it?
I will let you read my about page and decide that yourself.
Just know that I have been dissecting books for a long time and being an enthusiast does come with perks.
The process of refinement and constructive criticism
While we go through the series, I would like us to fall in love with improvement and refinement.
We need to do something and let it be bad for the first time.
I have written several outlines and chapters for novels, and stopped simply because I wanted to go back. But it is ultimately important to have something to work with.
I do this thing that I like to call “get the ugly out”. Which means what you think it does.
Essentially, I will do something knowing its bad but now that did it, I can clearly see what is bad, and improve on it. I honestly think its beautiful. Because there is no longer a worry for perfection and now its all about construction.
I want the series to be about doing better with the simple things, and to encourage people to write something just to try it and then discover the layers of our own potential.
That’s all for this post, it is meant to be short but wait until I talk about something that makes me angry.
See you next time,
Trinity
